Town of Aurora Councillor Tom Mrakas

Aurora Councillor Tom Mrakas

Thank you Aurora for putting your trust in me. I am honoured to serve as your voice on Aurora Town Council.   I ran for Aurora Town  Council because I believe in giving back to my community.  And since being elected as your Aurora Town Councillor, I have put that belief to work

Smarter Growth
My priority as your Aurora Town Councillor has been, and will continue to be, to focus on smarter growth.  Given that Aurora’s population is expected to grow by over 10,000 by the year 2020, how we grow will be vitally important to the health and well-being of our present and future community.

To me, smarter growth means accessing every tool available to us as a Municipality – from planning provisions to smarter development decisions, to changes to the OMB – to ensure that the community we have, is the community we want.

Meeting Challenges and Leveraging Opportunities

Yes, with growth comes challenges – but it also presents opportunities.  As your Councillor, I work to address those challenges while leveraging the opportunities. ; preserving what makes Aurora great by ensuring that  growth is on our terms.

Practical less Political Decision making

To get things done, we need to push past the politics and work together. We need the right information, at the right time – and then make the right decision on your behalf.  We need to deal with the issues of today, with an eye to the issues of the future.

Getting Things Done

As your Councillor, I have worked with you and for you, the residents, to ensure I make decisions that benefit our community as a whole; decisions that honour our past, respect our present and consider our future.

As your Councillor. I put forward and supported a number of important initiatives that preserve, promote and protect what makes Aurora great. To review  these initiatives please see the “Motions” section on this website.

To keep up to date with all that is happening at Council and in the Community, please visit the “Update/News” section on this website.

And as always if you would like to receive Quarterly Council Updates or if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me anytime.
